A new report delves into the driving forces behind why people travel

American Express’ latest survey brings interesting insights into the factors motivating current travel behaviors. Based on responses from travelers across the United States, Australia, Canada, India, Japan, Mexico and the United Kingdom, the 2024 Global Travel Trends Report reveals that as many as 77% of respondents prioritize the quality of their travel experience over the trip’s cost. It’s another clear signal that travel companies need to invest in enriching their offering, including more personalized deals and a seamless booking experience.

Travel trend to keep an eye on – destination dupes

This particular TikTok trend that’s been circulating online and recently arrived in travel has caught our attention. Expedia even named “destination dupes”, or duplicates, one of the biggest travel trends of 2024. These are unexpected and often more affordable alternatives to popular locations around the world, like Paros instead of Santorini, or Liverpool instead of London. Expedia has seen a significant surge in searches for alternative destinations over the past year, with a substantial increase in flight searches for these lesser-known locations. Certainly, destination dupes are something to look out for this year!

Navigating travel innovation and technology in 2024 and beyond

According to Phocuswright and their 2024 Guide to Travel Innovation and Tech, autonomous agents in travel are coming. As artificial intelligence transforms virtually all areas of life and business, the AI revolution in travel is accelerating at a rapid pace. The concept of autonomous agents, which promises to truly automate planning and booking processes, proves particularly interesting. We’re curious to see how it will affect the industry in the long run.
